# ABA therapy for New Mexico kids, at home and at play.

A Board Certified Behavior Analyst writes your child's plan. A therapist works one-on-one with your child through play. You learn the same strategies, so progress keeps going after the session ends.

A therapist comes to your home and works on the routines that happen there: meals, getting dressed, bedtime and play with siblings.

### [Early intervention](https://nidoaba.com/services/early-intervention/)

Play-based ABA for the early years: talking, playing, copying and getting ready for school.

### [Clinic-based ABA](https://nidoaba.com/services/clinic-aba/)

Structured sessions in a calm space, with room to practice next to other kids.

### [Parent training](https://nidoaba.com/services/parent-training/)

Regular time with your BCBA so you can use the same strategies between visits, at the store, at grandma's and everywhere else.

## From first email to first session.

[Walk through the steps](https://nidoaba.com/how-it-works/)

1. ### Reach out

Send the intake form or email us. Tell us about your child and what you want help with.
2. ### Check coverage

We check your benefits and explain what your plan needs before anything starts.
3. ### Meet your BCBA

A BCBA gets to know your child and family and completes a skills assessment.
4. ### Plan and start

You review a written plan with clear goals. Then sessions begin.

## nido

NEE-doh*noun, Spanish*

A nest. The place little ones grow strong enough to fly on their own.

### That's the whole idea.

We want every child we work with to leave with skills that carry into school, family life and the community. Here's how we work toward that.

- **Built around your goals.** Every plan starts with what matters to your family.
- **Positive and play-based.** We use positive reinforcement and follow your child's interests.
- **You're on the team.** Parent training and regular check-ins keep you in the loop.
- **Small caseloads.** Our goal is to keep caseloads small, so your BCBA really knows your child.

## Questions parents ask first.

Starting ABA comes with a lot of questions. Here are the three we hear most.

[See all questions](https://nidoaba.com/faq/)

### What is ABA therapy?

Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is a therapy based on the science of learning and behavior. It breaks skills into small, teachable steps, uses positive reinforcement to build them, and tracks progress so the plan can be adjusted.

ABA is commonly used to support autistic children and children with related developmental needs, in areas like communication, social skills, play and daily living.

### Does my child need a diagnosis?

For insurance to cover ABA, plans usually need a diagnosis, most often autism spectrum disorder, from a qualified provider. Many plans also ask for a referral or prescription for ABA.

If you don't have a diagnosis yet, reach out anyway. We can talk through next steps.

### How involved will I be as a parent?

Very involved, in a good way. Parents and caregivers are part of the team. You'll help set goals, have regular parent training with your BCBA, and learn strategies to use between sessions.

## Tell us about your kid.
